Caution: this post is heavy with links many from Ravelry and pictures.

It’s time for me to issue an accountability update. It’s been a slightly productive time but I don’t have much to say about it.

1. Ply on the Fly yarn. Someone on Plurk sent me this great tutorial. I’ve never seen this before but knew instantly that this would be the thing for me to master. Amazingly I did. I got 32 yards of Navajo plied yarn on my first try. I will be using this a lot in the future.

40 yards

72 yards

2. 2 Ply yarns. I spun 2 skeins of yarn. 40 yds and 72 yds. That’s 112 yards to add to my  stash dash total. I plan to use these small skeins for a baby blanket that I’ll eventually make. I can see it in my head. Someday it will translate and come out my hands.

3. Large Beaded SMS Shawl. I’m making progress. I’ve been working on this for the last few days. I’m starting to worry that I might run out of yarn. I have 3 plans to deal with a possible shortage.

4.Summer Flies Shawl. This will never run out of yarn. I’ve decided that this project is stuck in the black hole of knitting. The plan is to knit until I run out/low on the main yarn. Then cast on the mini matching skein for the edging. I’ll see how that plan goes.

I cast on a pair of socks and a pair of fingerless mitts so that I have some more travel knitting. That might work out a bit better if I wasn’t always the driver.

I need to get back to work on the GM Tablecloth. That’s my Secret to finishing the Stash Dash. Chart knitting has been difficult lately.

I also need to work on Evenstar. I’m still waiting on my bead order. I think if the ones I chose don’t come soon I’ll have to change plans.

I did finish a cute pair of socks for DGD. I’ll have to get a picture of the socks. (I gave them to her at the party and I didn’t take a picture) OD also asked for a sweater for DGD’s birthday pictures. I have to get her measurements (another thing I forgot to do) so I can start. I have 2 stash yarns that I’m gonna have to choose from soon.

That’s a lot. And it’s not even all of it. I better get back to the knitting.

It’s another one of those weeks. Instead of a formal post I’m just putting all my random thoughts into one post.

1. Tour De Fleece starts tomorrow. I have my Trindles ready. I’ll go decide which fiber to spin in a little while. I wanted to finish the green I was spinning but I ran out of time. Maybe I’ll try to finish that first and still spin another braid too. That picture isn’t of my trindles, I borrowed it from the web.

2. I haven’t touched the 2 shawls or the 2 tablecloths I have going in forever weeks. I just don’t have the brain power for charts.

3. Because I haven’t worked on any of my large projects, I don’t think I have much chance in the 5K.

4. I started a bath rug. It’s working up very quick. Large needles & cotton make for quick work. That and it’s a super easy pattern & I don’t need to worry about how much my brain can handle. Because I have been asked to share my secret to this project I’m sharing it here.

Cast on any multiple of 4 stitches that give you the desired size.
Row 1 & 2 – Knit 2 Purl 2 until end.
Row 3 & 4 – Knit across.
Repeat these 4 rows until your bath rug is the desired size.
Repeat Rows 1 & 2 once more. Bind off
I don’t block a project like this. Just throw it in the washer & dryer, then drop it on the bathroom floor.

That’s all for now. It will be a busy few days. Hope everyone in the US has a wonderful and safe July 4th.

I’m out of control this week. I have managed to sign up for the Tour De Fleece, and a Mystery Shawl Along. I still have my Summer Mystery Shawl #2 on the needles, The Evenstar Along with Erin and Steve, and my Stash Dash 5K all going. I’m also doing a Quilt A Long, but that will be a little easier since I’m not trying to make the quilt, but a bunch of holiday gifts.

I do have a few purchases on the way. I bought my own birthday gifts this year. What a great way to get what I want. I’m hoping that the mail man/lady has some goodies on the truck for me soon.

I am having a hard time with one thing though. Beading hooks. So far I have broken 2 of these this week. I must be pulling on them too hard or something. I’m just gonna have to order more since the beading bug that has bitten me doesn’t seem to be going away any time soon. It better not, I have a ton of half-finished projects with beads.

I better get my butt back to work or I’ll never finish for the Stash Dash. Happy Knitting.

I talked about starting my holiday gifts going during this hot summer. I know what I want to make for this years gifts. I’ve known for a while. But as usual, I had no real idea how to turn what’s in my head into something that my hands can create. Then I got this post in my e-mail. I love the work that Sandi does. She has been the inspiration for my sewing again.

I’m feeling pretty confident that I can talk about these projects here for a few reasons. 1. I don’t think any of the family(except one) reads my blog.  Diane, keep your mouth shut. 2. If they should find my blog, I doubt they will remember these projects. I’m also not going to tag these with any ID’s. If they should come across any of these posts I hope that they won’t be able to figure out who any project is for. So here’s the breakdown I think I’ll need.

adult girl gifts – (over age 20)  6

adult Boy gifts ( over age 20) 2

Teenage gifts – 3

Child gifts (under age 12) 1

Pets -4

This is only for the family I’ll be seeing this year that I know of. I’ll also make a few extras, either for me or hostess gifts.

I’m hapilly(if slowly) knitting on my GM tablecloth. Even though todays heat should reach the upper 90’s the fact that it’s made with crochet cotton makes it a heat friendly project. Back to work.

Wow. I knew it has been a while since I posted, but I didn’t think it had been this long. I guess I have some catching up to do. I really do need to get better about posting. I think of things to write but once I’m in front of the computer I end up doing so many other things.

So What have I been up to? I’ve Joined the Knitgirllls Stash Dash 2011. I don’t know how close I’ll get to 5K even with all my cheater projects, But I’m gonna try. The things I have on the needles for it are…

1. http://wendyknits.net/2011/05/15/summer-mystery-shawlette/

2. http://afewstitchesshort.blogspot.com/2010/06/evenstar-revealed.html

3. http://afewstitchesshort.blogspot.com/2010/12/galadriels-mirror.html

3 pairs of socks 2 for hubby, 1 for me.

A shawl of my own design

miscellaneous spinning

And the things I’ve managed to finish since my last post…

Some of the project bags I’ve made.

some of the needle rolls I’ve made.

And there has been a lot of stash  retirement fund enhancement. I won’t show you it though. I’ve also been spinning. and organizing my office/craft room. and trying to relax between all the work I’ve been getting. I guess that’s enough for now. I hope to get better at posting what I’m doing.

Happy Knitting.

And enjoy the Memorial Day Holiday. Please thank a service man for all that you have.

Thank you Boo for all you do each day. I love you and miss you. Stay Safe.

And to every Service Man or Woman who are giving up so much for me.

                           THANK YOU.

I’m back in middle school. Remember when you sat in a room full of sewing machines and tried to figure out what to do? Well, I’m there. I promised DQ that I would make curtains for her room. We have a plan. We went and bought fabric, ribbon and thread. All the things necessary. I found my sewing machine. Brought it out. And realized that I haven’t done any machine sewing in years. Maybe I should practice. I have a plan to make a bed/seat cover for the dog in my car.  That plan has turned into this…

It’s a good thing this is just for the dog. I need a lot more practice. This is definitely not my best work. Tomorrow maybe, I’ll put the binding on it. But for tonight it’s done and it’s good enough.

Now, back to some knitting.

I’ve lost it.

I can’t find the picture I took at the beginning of this project. I know that I took a picture. Because it’s a test knit, I wanted to keep a record of what I was starting with. I know it has to be somewhere. I’ve looked through all the places it could be including my flicker. I just can’t find it. It’s frustrating when you try to keep a record of what you’re doing, then you lose the records. Anyway. I think I have figured it out. So what is it? Well, here’s what I have so far.

It’s my new tablecloth. The first one I’m finishing. It’s gonna be wonderful, but there’s a few hurdles first. I need more beads. I have a lot of knitting to get done. I have other projects that are getting in the way occasionally. And of course, I keep hearing that tiny voice that tells me there’s other knits out there to do. Hopefully soon I’ll get it done.

In looking back to see if maybe I posted the picture I was looking for on the blog, I discovered that I’ve been blogging for over a year. Wow. It’s just like all the other special times around here. Birthdays, anniversaries, weekends. It went by with no notice to it’s happening.  I guess I’ll have to think about an anniversary contest. Maybe by year 2.

Happy Knitting.
