I’m still here. As always, life gets in the way of my good intention to blog more often. I have made some progress in the last week. I’m now four rows and the bind off away from finishing my GM tablecloth. I’ve been working hard on getting it finished. I’m hoping to get some good pictures when its finished.

I did manage to knit up a quick little sweater for my DGD. She needed a little something to go with her new dress for her birthday pictures. You never know how cold the AC will be.

   Baby Shrug

Pattern made up from a stitch directory. The pattern was named Feather Lace. I used a 3.5mm needle and cast on what ended up being the center of the shrug. I then knit both sides out at the same time using a long circular needle.

Tour De Fleece has finished. I did manage to cross the finish line but I was a few days behind the rest of the competitors. I wanted to spin the green fleece that I got from Rhinebeck last year. I managed to finish the green, then I came across some of the pink that I got at the same time. (it had been hiding from me) I finally finished the pink today. Maybe now I can start spinning some of the fleece that has managed to find its way to my stash.

   150 yds. 2 ply

I’m pretty proud of how well this came out. It’s a little thick and thin, but mostly even. I plan to make some baby blankets out of these smaller pieces of handspun. I have some white bucle in the stash that I think will look great. Someday. Definitely not today.

Well, it’s work week. And I have something else going on that’s slowing down my knitting. I still have hopes of putting in a good showing on Summer Stash Dash. I think I can get close if I can work on GM.

Happy Knitting.

Caution: this post is heavy with links many from Ravelry and pictures.

It’s time for me to issue an accountability update. It’s been a slightly productive time but I don’t have much to say about it.

1. Ply on the Fly yarn. Someone on Plurk sent me this great tutorial. I’ve never seen this before but knew instantly that this would be the thing for me to master. Amazingly I did. I got 32 yards of Navajo plied yarn on my first try. I will be using this a lot in the future.

40 yards

72 yards

2. 2 Ply yarns. I spun 2 skeins of yarn. 40 yds and 72 yds. That’s 112 yards to add to my  stash dash total. I plan to use these small skeins for a baby blanket that I’ll eventually make. I can see it in my head. Someday it will translate and come out my hands.

3. Large Beaded SMS Shawl. I’m making progress. I’ve been working on this for the last few days. I’m starting to worry that I might run out of yarn. I have 3 plans to deal with a possible shortage.

4.Summer Flies Shawl. This will never run out of yarn. I’ve decided that this project is stuck in the black hole of knitting. The plan is to knit until I run out/low on the main yarn. Then cast on the mini matching skein for the edging. I’ll see how that plan goes.

I cast on a pair of socks and a pair of fingerless mitts so that I have some more travel knitting. That might work out a bit better if I wasn’t always the driver.

I need to get back to work on the GM Tablecloth. That’s my Secret to finishing the Stash Dash. Chart knitting has been difficult lately.

I also need to work on Evenstar. I’m still waiting on my bead order. I think if the ones I chose don’t come soon I’ll have to change plans.

I did finish a cute pair of socks for DGD. I’ll have to get a picture of the socks. (I gave them to her at the party and I didn’t take a picture) OD also asked for a sweater for DGD’s birthday pictures. I have to get her measurements (another thing I forgot to do) so I can start. I have 2 stash yarns that I’m gonna have to choose from soon.

That’s a lot. And it’s not even all of it. I better get back to the knitting.

These are a project that I started for hubby as an anniversary gift. Our anniversary was in March. originally when I started these I expected to be done on time. Then I realized it was gonna be a little late. Then I figured out that they would actually get done just in time for 80 degree weather.

I was right. But they’re done now. Winter and the cold will return sooner than we want it. And hubby will have a great pair of boot socks to keep him warm this winter.

Many people have an accessory issue. For me it’s bags. I can’t get enough of them. Big bags, little bags, bags with pockets. You get the picture. My latest bag projects have been for specialty bags. All sizes, that can serve special functions, especially on my wheelchair. But these are truly special.

They may be a bit difficult to understand for now. Last year, in my travels, I saw a man who had planted flowers in a basket hanging on a fence. I’m having a hard time describing them. So you just have to trust me when I say it got my brain juices flowing. I also bought one of those upside down tomato planter things.  That thing is heavy when full. So what is a crafter to do? I’m making my own for this years garden crop. I’ve wanted a garden again for a long time, but it’s hard for me to do standard gardening. So I’ve come up with a new idea. I’m using up some left over cotton to make small plant bags that will hang off the eves of my garage.

This area gets lots of sun. Not today in the snow. I think it will be a good place for my plants. I’ll have to wait and see how this experiment works. But I don’t have much to lose. I’ll keep posting pictures to let you know how this works out.

In other crafting news. I’m finished with my portion of the hats.

I made 16 of these hats. Not all have pom-poms. That may change. They were a quick knit and an easy to remember pattern. The last hat took me as long to finish as the first 3 hats I made. That’s just the nature of the beast. When making so many of something you get sick of doing them and can’t wait to get on to the next thing. They will be so worth the trouble. Another cheer mom is now embroidering them. I doubt that the team reads my blog so  here are pictures of the hats when they’re done.

Pictures compliments of Shawn. Amazing what you were able to create. I’m honored to help you with this great project.

Now it’s back to work on some planter bags and waiting for someone to drop off some work. See ya all later.

Happy Knitting.

I’ve been making a bunch of lists lately.  Some are on paper. Some in my memory mind. Theres also a bunch of things going on. Let me share them.

1. My car is making us debate. I love my car but it’s getting to the point of needing some potentially expensive work. I put a lot of miles on it each year. DH and I have started talking about the option of repair vs. replace. We’re also trying to figure out what options I need, and what things we just want.

2. I ordered some yarn. (By some I mean that the mail man is not gonna be a happy camper.)  The maker of Peaches and Cream cottons had been purchased.  I have heard a few things about what will happen to the company. I’m not getting involved in the politics of rumors company policies. I do know however that they are running an incredible sale. Hop on over if you use any cottons in any crafting projects.

3.  A friend of ours is expecting her first child shortly. Hi Marissa. I’ve been working on some things for the baby. Baby knitting is so much fun. It’s a great way to try new things on a small and quick scale. Recently I found this post. I can see that made as part of the gift for this baby. I wonder if I can get a similar fabric.

That will have to wait. It’s work week. And the weather forecast isn’t good. More snow is coming our way. I wonder if we all will remember this lousy winter next summer when we’re all complaining about the heat. I doubt it.

Oh, Well. I’m gonna go knit for a while. Catch ya soon.

Happy Knitting.

I have been a bad blogger. I know. The whole point of having a blog was to make me update it regularly. I’m getting lots of knitting done since the weather broke here a few days ago. I don’t know how much will be getting done in the coming week since the weather man keeps using the phrase “heat wave”.

One of the groups (yahoo link) I belong to is doing a “Christmas in July” special. I love this group. It helps me get a lot of projects done in time for the holidays. The designers are fabulous and creative. They are currently making some wonderful Christmas Stocking patterns available to the members. Yes, I’m making Christmas Stockings. I have wanted to do this for many years. I even bought kits a few years back. I’m starting on them this year. I will get them done. At least a few.

I’m still working on my Table Cloth also. It’s progressing nicely. I’ll probably work on this a lot this week since it’s crochet cotton on small needles and not a lot of heavy fabric in my lap.

I’m also still messing around with tatting.  It’s fun to try to figure out what I’m doing. I have a few patterns but we know how much fun it is to follow someone else’s pattern. I can always improve something. I do have an idea in my mind. I’m gonna pull out one of my crochet patterns & see if I can modify it. Why?  Because I can.

I promise another post tomorrow. I’m gonna write it now.

Happy Knitting.

I finished the Cable Braid Scarf. I love it. It’s calling out for a hat and mitts to go with it. I’ll have to work on that. For now it’s blocking & drying. It’s also told me who it will be for. So now I have one thing off my Holiday list. Cool, I haven’t even written this years list yet. Hope I can remember where I put this when the holidays roll around. Enjoy the pics.

This is my own pattern. I’ll post it as soon as I figure out how to do that. If you would like the pattern just leave me a comment with your e-mail. I’ll be happy to share it with you. Please note, I have not heard back from the test knitter & this is a very rough pattern.
